Project: “Recipes from the Farm” Social Media Campaign
Client: UC Berkeley Gill Tract Farm Coalition
I worked within a 4-member team to design and execute the “Recipes from the Farm” social media campaign. We produced short, “edutainment” Tiktok-style content to highlight how people can turn UC Berkeley Gill Tract farm produce into healthy, easy, affordable, and culturally diverse dishes. Our mission was to expand and diversify the perception of “healthy eating” on social media. We conducted research and recipe development to highlight recipes from diverse cultures. As a result of our campaign, the Gill Tract’s Instagram account, which previously did not have any Reels, reached 36,000% new Instagram accounts in one week.

Oakland-based nonprofit Civic Design Studio (CDS) requested my team to envision and design a public park proposal to promote conservation, civic engagement, and celebrate Oakland’s sociocultural diversity. CDS’s director wanted us to lean on our diverse backgrounds, think outside of the box, and incorporate technology to help envision a green space that includes and serves everyone in the community.
We interviewed park-goers, community leaders, and nonprofit directors; conducted research on best practices for urban green spaces; and ideated ways to engage users of all ages and backgrounds. To better recognize and serve Oakland’s multicultural communities, we designed all project content to be multicultural and/or multilingual. This ranged from designing park birdhouses based on Southeast Asian cultures to using geocaches as a platform to share community migration stories.
Working within a cross-functional team, I co-developed a product roadmap and project timeline to ideate, conduct user and community research, prototype, and solicit feedback. I led the Geocache Team (geocaching is an outdoor recreational activity similar to a virtual treasure hunt), drawing from my and my team members’ diverse backgrounds to integrate multiple languages and create culturally-aware content. I designed a Geocaching app prototype using Figma to preview a user’s journey and experience engaging with the geocache. I also served as a meeting facilitator and project manager, streamlined internal and external communications, and scheduled meeting logistics.

As editor-in-chief, I led Perennial’s mission to educate and increase awareness on the intersectional nature of the climate crisis. Despite being a new and budding organization, I managed and grew our publication for 2 years. Under my leadership, we published 3 issues (shown above) that highlight emerging ideas, policies, and technologies across various industries that aim to drive a more equitable and sustainable future. With our publication, we seek to activate change and action among the UC Berkeley campus community and beyond.

Project: Zero Waste Buildings Project at UC Berkeley
Inside the report

As SERC’s Green Team Associate, I led the Zero Waste Buildings Project to reduce campus waste, increase diversion rates, and educate the UC Berkeley community and the public on waste. To start out, I co-wrote an in-depth report analyzing campus waste infrastructure and outlining recommendations for improvement. Following the report release, I coordinated across operations, marketing, and administration departments to implement zero waste bin rollout and streamline waste management practices. To supplement our infrastructural work, I also managed a team of 10+ students to implement campus waste education and sustainability engagement initiatives.
